Tiki Bar Fundraiser

Our first guest bartending fundraiser at the Tiki bar, located on the beach of the former Beach Club,  was a big success!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to help make this evening unforgettable. The community support was noticed by all. Jaclyn McCoy, manager of the Tiki bar commented “we had the most successful charity evening to date.” We had a net profit of a little over $2000.00 and an additional $500 online donation. We’re looking forward to next year.

Skee Ball Tournament

Our skee Ball tournament was a great success with 40 participants. Of those, 30 were from out of the area, many of whom said the came particularly to play in the tournament!

Ron Smith of Pittsburgh was the winner.

The highest 10 scorers had a roll off to get to the top two. Those two -- Michelle Furillo and Ron tied with a score of 260. That led to a tie-breaking roll off.

Smith won with a score of  200 and Michelle had 160.

The top cash prize was $25 which Ron turned around and donated it back to the society!

The top ten each received $5. Many of those also donated it back.

Thanks to all those who participated.

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the laughter and cheering of the participants.

Pumpkin Fest is Coming

We will once again be at Pumpkin Fest on Oct. 13, 14 and 15 at Conneaut Lake Park.

We will have some new items, including a Carousel ornament, decks of cards and mugs!

We also will have the Summer Solstice book as well as our t-shirts, sweat shirts, hoodies, clocks, pictures and more!

Plan on checking our booth out as possible Christmas gifts -- or for yourself!

We appreciate all our support over the years!

Digitizing Program

We are now engaged in a program that will digitize all 46,000 of our artifacts.  It involves scanning each item onto a computer, which will preserve the item.  Currently, our system only tells what the item is.

Example: Picture of Hotel Conneaut.  By digitizing it, the actual picture of the hotel is captured.

We are excited about this program as it will preserve our history should some catastrophe occur.

To date, 19 books out of about 100 books have been scanned.

In addition to those books from the research center, we also have obituaries and other published books to scan as well as the items in the museum. So you can see we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

If you are interested in helping, we would love to have you. This winter, we had three "pairs" of scanners, but summertime has meant many of those aren't available. Scanners work in teams of two -- at their own schedule.

If you would like to help, please contact Bob Hilton  814-382-4328 or Julia Catalano at 814-724-9841.

Annual Picnic

We will have our annual society picnic Monday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. at Msgr. Toland Park on Alter Road, Conneaut Lake.
It is open to all members and guests.
More information will be announced, but the tradition is to pay about $3 for the meat and other expenses for each person. Those attending are to take tureens to share. Table ware and beverage will be provided.
